What is Supported Independent Living?
By definition Supported independent living (SIL) allows you to live in your own home and includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. SIL is there to help you live as independently as possible, while building your skills.
Supported independent living is best suited to people with a disability who have higher support needs and likely need help at home all the time. It’s designed for those who require a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week, including overnight support.
Although this covers the kind of support provided in a SIL environment, for us at Essential Disability there’s much more to it and it starts with making it the perfect place for you to call home.
